The challenge

Cargill, a global powerhouse with over 150,000 employees, approached Tailor Hub with an ambitious goal: to build a bespoke Customer Portal for its maritime logistics division. This highly specialized and `offline` sector of the logistics industry presented unique challenges, including processing massive volumes of sensitive data—such as contracts and multimillion-dollar invoices—while maintaining real-time visibility of maritime operations.

Adding to the complexity, the project demanded not only technical excellence but also cultural adaptability, as Tailor needed to integrate seamlessly with Cargill’s team and operations across regions.

Partnering with Tailor Hub was a game-changer for us. Their ability to step into a high-pressure environment and deliver a fully functional platform in record time was remarkable. The tech

The development of the Customer Portal called for a robust, scalable architecture capable of handling high-stakes scenarios. Tailor Hub implemented:

  • NestJS and Snowflake to manage data pipelines and ensure scalability.

  • Hexagonal architecture and Domain Driven Design (DDD) to create a flexible yet stable system that met the unique needs of Cargill's maritime logistics team.

These technologies ensured a seamless, high-performance user experience, enabling features such as:

  • Real-time vessel tracking across shipping routes.

  • Contract and clause management, streamlining legal and operational workflows.

  • Invoice review and payment facilitation, eliminating redundancies and costly errors.

The culture

What began as a single project in May 2023 has since evolved into a broader collaboration. By delivering the Customer Portal on time and to the highest standards, Tailor earned Cargill’s trust, leading to the launch of three additional development projects involving a growing team of up to 10 Tailor engineers.
